Statement By The Council Chairperson

It is with deep humility and a strong sense of responsibility that I accept the opportunity to serve the people of Ezulwini Municipality as Mayor. My vision for this term is anchored in a simple but powerful commitment: to build a safer, more inclusive, and more sustainable Ezulwini that works for every resident.

Ezulwini already holds a unique place in our country as a centre of tourism, innovation, investment, and quality living. The Municipality’s long-term vision of becoming “a premium destination for tourism, innovation and quality living in Africa” provides a strong foundation for the work ahead. During my tenure, I intend to contribute meaningfully toward this vision through practical, people-centred leadership and responsive governance.

A major priority of my administration will be the acceleration of infrastructure development. We must continue improving our roads, drainage systems, pedestrian walkways, public spaces, recreational facilities, and essential services infrastructure. Infrastructure is not merely about construction; it is about dignity, mobility, economic growth, safety, and creating an environment where residents and businesses can thrive. We will support initiatives that enhance accessibility, strengthen service delivery, and position Ezulwini as a modern and attractive municipality for residents, investors, and visitors alike.

Equally important is the safety and well-being of our people. Residents deserve to live, work, and raise families in a secure environment. My administration will therefore support measures that improve public safety, strengthen emergency preparedness, improve street lighting, promote cleaner neighbourhoods, and enhance collaboration with communities and relevant stakeholders in addressing crime and social challenges. A safe Ezulwini is essential for social stability, tourism growth, and economic confidence.

At the same time, we recognize the financial pressures facing households and businesses. For this reason, my leadership will place strong emphasis on prudent financial management, accountability, and responsible expenditure. We must ensure that municipal resources are used efficiently and transparently so that development is achieved without placing unnecessary financial burdens on residents. I am particularly committed to protecting vulnerable groups by supporting efforts that keep municipal rates affordable while maintaining quality service delivery.

I also believe that development must be participatory. The voice of residents, businesses, youth, women, community leaders, and all stakeholders must remain central in shaping the future of Ezulwini. My office will encourage engagement, dialogue, and partnership as we collectively work toward shared progress.

As Mayor, I may serve for only a year, but I intend for this term to leave a meaningful contribution toward a municipality that is more responsive, more resilient, and more prepared for the future. Together, let us strengthen Ezulwini’s reputation as a place of excellence, opportunity, safety, and quality living for all.
